Kassi is currently working on her Master’s thesis. The project analyzes the data collected from the NATFAN survey in relation to food deserts, areas with limited access to affordable and nutritious food. The research will attempt to determine whether living in a food desert is associated with fruit, vegetable or whole grain consumption for children receiving WIC benefits. This will be accomplished by comparing data obtained through the NATFAN survey with food desert location data obtained by the USDA.
